The Music We Perform is
a "distillation"
of a number of styles of music popular
from the 1930s thru today.
American popular composers such as
Berlin, the Gershwins, Porter, Rodgers
and Hart wrote songs that have come
to define what we call "standards." |
|
As standards have been
interpreted and reinterpreted for nearly four
generations, composers and singer/songwriters
such as James Taylor, Bruce Hornsby, Paul Simon
and Sting have continued to create lyrics and
melodies that add to the tradition. They're in
the mix.
Long before the age of the singer/songwriter in
America, a genuine
superstar composer/lyricist/performer rose to
fame in
France with words and music...and a style...
that remains unique. Charles
Trenet ,
who began his career in the 30s and
was still selling out performances
in the 90s, composed close to
1000 songs. Monsieur Trenet has
contributed a saveur française to
our musical distillation.
Jazz guitar & musette accordion
are the instrumental basis of our
Mysterium Coniunctionis...a sort of musical/alchemical
inquiry into separation and synthesis.
À votre santé.
